Floyd enlisted into the US Army at the age of 18 in 1943 at the rank of Private.
Around this time, the standard issue equipment of a lower ranking US soldier was his uniform, helmet, backpack with items such as rations and equipment, a backpack, a rifle, sidearm (If provided one), and a few extra clips of ammunition.
Floyd was later placed into the Infantry and was placed in the 115th Infantry, 29th division which was a rifle regiment.
Floyd was tragically killed in action somewhere in Normandy, France around the date of July first, 1944. He was awarded a purple heart for his sacrifice.
