Floyd attended church as a Protestant at St. Jacob's United Brethren church 

Floyd grew up in a family of 10 including; His mother Resta, His father frank, and his siblings Frank, Carrie, Grace, Elden, Pauline, Elise, and Louise.

He was born on January 14th, 1925

Floyd was 16 when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor and effectively caused the US to join the war effort. 

Floyd enlisted into the  army at the age of 18, but not before getting married to his wife Ida also at the age of 18.
